Displace and Threat ordering
This rule is part of the Comprehensive Rules, where every cross-reference resolves in one page.
- Question
- What resolves when enemies are Displaced, and in what order?
- Answer
- Each swapped pair fires Threat as it resolves, before the next pair is selected.
- 900.22aThreat resolves once for each pair swapped, inside the swap, before a repeated Displace selects its next pair.
- 900.22bIf either moved unit dies during that reaction window, the swap stands but no further pair is selected.
- 900.22cA Threat reaction that itself Displaces resolves at most once per chain, so two opposing Threat lines cannot bounce a swap back and forth forever. Plain Threat reactions answer every pair, nested pairs included.
- 900.22dThreat still fires when an earlier reaction in the chain killed one of the displaced units, because the pair event already occurred and is not retracted.
- 900.22eKeyword auras and adjacency-derived state are refreshed immediately before the triggers, so a Threat reads the post-swap board.
- 900.22fDisplace selects a fresh pair on each occurrence from enemies it has not moved yet this activation, so no enemy is Displaced twice by one activation.
- 900.22gCombat Displace only swaps units with matching footprint sizes, and Bosses never move.
