Interest
This rule is part of the Comprehensive Rules, where every cross-reference resolves in one page.
In game
Stacking enemy debuff. On its next activation, the unit pays all Interest through Vitality, Power, Speed, or Armor loss.
Scrip
- 800.38aInterest is a stacking enemy debuff with no timer. The whole debt is paid on the debtor's own next activation, at the activation-start step — after its target has been selected, before anything else resolves.
- 800.38bThe payment is not chosen by the card that applied it. Each stack of debt rolls independently and takes 1 Vitality, 1 Power, 1 Speed, or 1 Armor, at even odds. A 12-stack debt is therefore a mixed bill, not a single stat's worth.
- 800.38cThe Vitality portion is a cost, not a damage instance. It bypasses Armor, Shield, Insurance, damage-ignore charges, and lethal-hit prevention, and it lowers the debtor's maximum Vitality by the same amount for the rest of the battle.
- 800.38dA payment can kill the debtor. The activation it interrupted still continues.
- 800.38eA Relentless debtor pays nothing, but the debt is cleared all the same — the stacks are zeroed first, then the payment is refused.
- 800.38fRelentless also blocks Interest from being applied in the first place.
- 800.38gThe Interest-paid channel fires after the bill resolves, carrying the debt amount, and fires even when the payment was lethal.
