Maim
This rule is part of the Comprehensive Rules, where every cross-reference resolves in one page.
In game
Each point prevents 2 Vitality restoration or Shield gain, then is consumed. Persists for the battle and ignores status immunity.
Status
- 800.43aMaim is a point pool that lasts the whole battle. It has no timer and never decays on its own.
- 800.43bEach Maim point prevents 2 points of Vitality restoration or Shield gain, and is then consumed. Points are consumed only for recovery the target could actually have received, so healing a unit that is already at full Vitality spends no Maim.
- 800.43cConsumption is ceil(prevented / 2), so a 1-point overflow still spends a whole point.
- 800.43dMaim ignores status immunity. Relentless does not stop it.
- 800.43eMaim still requires a legal recipient: it is refused against a dead, Entrapped, or Dormant unit, and against Tools and Hubs.
- 800.43fMaim is what makes Cull work. Cull succeeds only while the target's Maim points exceed its current Vitality.
- 800.43gMaim reduces Feast, Roost, Hallow, and every other source of Vitality restoration, including a heal delivered by an ally.
