Comprehensive Rules
1000 Runes, Resonance, and Forge Cores
Persistent systems that sit outside a single activation.
1000.1Rune projection
- 1000.1aA rune on the row-projecting board, to the right of your grid, projects across its row. A rune on the board below your grid projects across its column.
- 1000.1bA normal 2x2 through 4x4 unit receives a projected rune at half potency when the rune covers only one of its two projected rows or columns, and at full potency when both are covered.
- 1000.1cCoverage is evaluated independently for each rune at an intersection. Size-1 Scrip units receive full potency; Tools receive no projected rune effects.
- 1000.1dRunic units receive projected board runes at full potency through either full or partial coverage. Runic does not create an equipment slot.
1000.2Rune effect lanes
- 1000.2aRune effects hook into the activation at four points: immediate, on-hit, successful-activation, and post-activation.
- 1000.2bImmediate rune effects resolve before the base hit; on-hit effects resolve only if the hit landed.
- 1000.2cEach lane resolves at most once per activation, even when a dedicated resolver handles the ability.
- 1000.2dThorns sits outside all four. It is a reaction on the unit carrying the rune, fires on every hostile damage event against it — ticks included — and answers as a Vitality loss rather than a rune effect. See 500.6.
1000.3Resonance level
- 1000.3aYou have at most one equipped resonance, granted by a boss signature reward, and it applies to every eligible allied unit. Tools do not receive it.
- 1000.3bResonance level is the summed tiers of your player-acquirable board runes, plus 1. The floor is 1 and there is no cap.
- 1000.3cIn combat, each active Grohm adds 22 levels. Each active Rune Resonator with its Quest completed adds 4 more. A dead, inactive, or Dormant source stops contributing.
- 1000.3dEffect size scales with that level. An effect whose halves scale apart prints one number each: Blitz gives level x 3 Power and level x 2 Speed, both for the first 20 seconds of a battle.
- 1000.3eRiposte is the one resonance that answers being hit rather than acting. It is retaliation, not damage — see 500.6.
- 1000.3fClaiming another resonance replaces the current one. It can never be unequipped or sold.
1000.4Forge Cores
- 1000.4aMost boss signature rewards are Forge Cores: permanent, match-scoped effects that activate the moment they are claimed.
- 1000.4bCores stack with Cores earned in earlier rounds, and the ordered list travels with the board into nemesis fights.
- 1000.4cAn Income Core grants its listed Gold on every later numbered-round advance, before the next Shop 1 opens. Only bosses in rounds 1 through 5 may offer an Income Core; round 10 has no later payout.
- 1000.4dCore bonuses that increase an amount are added before the receiving rule's own caps and reductions — for example a Vitality-restore Core is added before the max-Vitality cap and before Maim.
- 1000.4eCore reductions that reduce damage-over-time ticks are applied after Prismbreak's amplification.
- 1000.4fSome signature rewards are a resonance equip or an immediate reward instead of a Core.
