Shock, Haywire, and Cascade chains
This rule is part of the Comprehensive Rules, where every cross-reference resolves in one page.
- Question
- What does a forced activation do to the target's own cycle and stacks?
- Answer
- It resolves fully, triggers Haywire, and then restores the charge state it started with.
- 900.16aA forced activation resolves the entire ability — targeting, effects, damage, triggers, and the Cascade roll — exactly as a natural activation would.
- 900.16bThe target's charge state, queued reactivations, and Cascade depth are captured beforehand and restored afterwards, so a Shock is pure extra value and does not delay the next natural activation.
- 900.16cHaywire does fire, using the stack count captured before the forced activation began.
- 900.16dThe same unit cannot be Shocked twice inside one Shock resolution, and nested forced activations stop at a depth of 10.
- 900.16eCascade has its own separate cap of 7 re-triggers, and the depth resets on any failed roll.
- 900.16fA Cascade that occurs while a Shock chain is already running is routed through the Shock machinery rather than queueing a quick reactivation, so both caps apply to it.
