600 Targeting and Focus

Who an ability can select, and how the roll is weighted.

600.2Focus weighting

  1. 600.2aFocus-weighted selection rolls against the total effective Focus of the candidate pool.
  2. 600.2bEffective Focus is the unit's Focus, floored at 1. There is no threshold and no bonus step: the weight rises smoothly with the stat.
  3. 600.2cA candidate's share of the roll is its effective Focus divided by the pool's total, so twice the Focus is twice as often picked.
  4. 600.2dThe floor means a unit at 0 Focus is still a legal pick, just the rarest one in the pool.
  5. 600.2eA multi-pick selection makes one Focus-weighted roll per pick and never picks the same unit twice.

600.3The primary target

  1. 600.3aThe primary target is chosen once per activation and cached for the whole activation.
  2. 600.3bRabid removes the previous target from the pool, unless that would empty it.
  3. 600.3cA Feral misfire replaces the cached target after selection, so the entire activation redirects.
  4. 600.3dEffects that fan out from the primary target — adjacent enemies, splinter targets — are resolved against the cached target, not re-selected.

600.4Scopes

  1. 600.4aEffects declare a scope: the primary target, all enemies, Focus-weighted enemies, enemies adjacent to the target, self, all allies, adjacent allies, or Focus-weighted allies.
  2. 600.4bA scope that names a count fills it with Focus-weighted picks from the eligible pool, never picking the same unit twice.
  3. 600.4cA scope filtered by a required status — for example Maimed enemies — filters before selection, so the count is filled from qualifying units only.
  4. 600.4dAllied scopes use the ally-eligibility gate, which excludes Tools and Hubs. Effects that target Tools use their own explicit adjacency instead.
