Tool Durability and failed packages
This rule is part of the Comprehensive Rules, where every cross-reference resolves in one page.
- Question
- Does a Tool spend Durability on a package that does nothing?
- Answer
- Only if the package resolved. An Overmatch comparison that fails costs nothing.
- 900.34aA Tool loses 1 Durability when one of its packages resolves, and is destroyed at 0.
- 900.34bA package gated by an Overmatch comparison spends no charge when the comparison fails. Ties count as a failure, because Overmatch is strictly greater than.
- 900.34cDestruction is deferred to the end of the activating ally's package pass when a repair could still land in the same activation, so a repair and a final charge in the same activation do not race.
- 900.34dRepair effects restore Durability directly and can revive a Tool already worn to 0. Tool repair bypasses the living-only recovery gate.
- 900.34eLosing a Tool immediately refreshes adjacency-derived keywords such as Brute and Braced-derived counts.
